Thank you for taking the time to find out more about us. As the Founder and Corporate Band Coach of a music team-building company, I firmly believe that beginners with no prior musical knowledge can play music as long as they enjoy it and use it for a greater purpose, like personal development, family bonding, church worship, etc.
Before creating Team Music, I had professions as a Musician and Teacher.
As a Musician, I have had the pleasure to perform for many events and gigs. One of my most notable and proudest moments was leading a group of top musicians around Singapore as the Music Director for the Jubilee Day of Prayer, JDOP 2015 held at Singapore Sports Hub.
Slowly, I began to delve into the world of coaching where I felt most at home. Being able to bring the music out of someone and seeing them grow as a musician is what keeps me motivated.
Team Music is the culmination of all the skills and experience I have picked up over the years.
Early Roots
My first business venture was co-founding Believer Music back in 2000. I was the music director and co-developed the Guitar, Keyboard, and Vocal program with my business partner to teach Christian worship music to fellow Christians. After managing Believer Music for 8 years, I had over 10 Music Teachers under my guidance who taught close to 500 students.
I left Believer Music in 2009 to enter a different industry. In 2012, I returned and started Kingdom Music which focuses on training church worship musicians. Since then, I have trained beginners to band together to perform in kindergarten year-end concerts, dinner and dance functions, birthdays, churches, and wedding parties. I really enjoyed this form of “band coaching” which rallies people around a common goal while fostering a mutual appreciation for each other’s strengths and contributions.
With the evolution of technology, I also started incorporating the use of online conference software to teach students to play Keyboard, Guitar, and Bass.

Pivotal Change
Having to teach 60 students at a time at night and on weekends meant that I had to accommodate their after-work schedules—leaving me with little to no time for my family. It strained us, and I began to feel tied up on all ends. I needed a solution quickly.
Miraculously, a friend in the team-building industry hinted that the industry was always looking for the next big idea. Since music was my natural talent, I swiftly found a way to blend music with team-building and managed to make it work.
At the start, I cold-called team-building companies to give me a shot in their upcoming events with their clients. My partnership with these companies in 2013 went well, but I was dissatisfied with the music quality which was compromised in the process. I knew we had to be true to our clients and the music. Team Music Pte Ltd was thus officially registered in 2014.
Overcoming Challenges and Lessons Learnt
Innovation always comes with its obstacles. The first challenge was visibility. Nobody had heard about us, and those to whom we pitched the idea, did not believe in us to take us on. It was a tough 1st year but I pushed on and continued to reach out to potential clients. It was only in the 2nd year that we gained more trust and traction after being listed on prominent event blogs.
Another challenge was finding genuinely teachable, talented, committed, and humble musician-coaches who were willing to affirm, teach, and connect with beginners to play well. My life’s mission is about helping people. Naturally, I sought individuals who were keen on helping others. We eventually found a number of young musicians and their friends at *SCAPE, our new ‘home’ at the start of 2017, and have been on the lookout for more suitable coaching talents ever since.
